For its new offices, this hedge fund wanted a quiet, serene environment that would reinforce its pan-Asian aesthetic. Harmonizing disparate structural and decorative elements, our design emphasized the personal in the highly complicated world of quantitative trading.
Bold, distinctive materials are used to signify. A mother-of-pearl wall and a screen made of blackened steel and walnut accentuate the reception area. Nooks, recesses and pedestals display the firm’s trove of Asian artifacts with sophisticated lighting effects. Along the main hallway, a series of full-height, oversized doors follow a tectonic geometry while marking distinct transitions between individual offices and functions. Throughout, copper-mesh, metal-rod and wood custom screens within the doors and between the spaces underwrite a sense of privacy while prompting visual connections.
